SAP Readiness Check – Ready to go?
The SAP Readiness Check determines whether a smooth migration to S/4 HANA is possible with existing hardware, infrastructure and custom code.
The SAP Readiness Check is one of five SAP tools for optimizing the SAP landscape in the company and – like the others – refers specifically to the transformation to S/4HANA. It is used for concrete system analysis and provides information on whether the technical prerequisites for an SAP S/4HANA transition are met. The decisive factor is whether a greenfield and brownfield approach is chosen for the transformation, whether the future system should or can be operated in the cloud, on-premise or hybrid.
In preparation for a conversion to S/4HANA, a number of technical questions arise. It must be clarified how large the SAP-HANA database should be, whether existing add-ons, in-house developments and business processes are compatible with the new system landscape and which SAP Fiori applications are relevant for users. Furthermore, it must be examined which business functions and transactions are affected by S/4HANA and whether the user-defined code objects continue to function with the new product generation.
The SAP Readiness Check examines this using an analysis of the usage and configuration data of the existing SAP systems (development, test and production systems). The three major areas of infrastructure, hardware and customer-specific developments (custom code) are examined. No successful migration to S/4HANA is possible without successful infrastructure and hardware analysis!
To perform the readiness check, the SAP ECC configuration must be uploaded to the cloud-based application. In the Readiness Check as a uniform tool, a data basis is thus created that provides information on the individual adjustments required. This is visualized via a dashboard that covers everything from HANA sizing and customer-specific code analyses to recommended Fiori applications.
The Readiness Check can be used via the cloud and is free of charge for users with an SAP maintenance contract (S-User account). How to use the tool and how to evaluate the information from the analysis report, GAMBIT provides its customers with useful assistance.
